Humble Roots
Way back in May of 1985, First Marion planted a mission church, which in 1987 became known as Lakeshore Estates Baptist Church. The name change was to reflect the community in which it ministered, the largest mobile home community in the state of Arkansas at that time. Lakeshore Estates was initially filled with retirees looking to settle close to, but not in, Memphis. Lakeshore Estates Baptist Church thrived for several decades before falling on hard times. Eventually, the leadership of the church voted to deed the facility back to First Marion to be relaunched under new leadership as New Hope Baptist Church.
A Huge Vision
New leadership always brings new vision. Shortly after the COVID pandemic, Pastor Anthony Banks took the reins of the mission church as pastor. His vision was to have a multi-racial congregation that didn't see white, black, or brown, but only the color red--the color of the blood of Jesus that washed all their sins away. Today, New Beginnings Baptist Church, as it was renamed, offers residents the opprotunity to find a new beginning through salvation in Jesus Christ!
