Are You Ready to Grow in Your Faith?
Growing spiritually is the next step after getting baptized. The church can assist in your spiritual growth, but the church can’t build on what you haven’t begun. That’s why at First Marion, we encourage every member to incorporate basic spiritual disciplines into their life.
A spiritual discipline is something that enhances and advances one’s personal spiritual growth. Common disicplines include things like: Bible reading, prayer, a daily time of mediation with the Lord (a.k.a. a quiet time), generosity, and participation in the local church. Make them part of your daily routine, like eating breakfast, showering, taking medication, or breathing. As you do, you’ll find they enhance your walk with Christ.
Below, you’ll find Pastor James' "Handy Guide to Spiritual Disciplines." It uses the fingers on your hand to help you remember what disciplines to practice as you start your walk with Christ. The first letter of each finger is also the first letter of the spiritual disicpline.
