Just across the Mississippi River from Memphis, Tennessee, First Marion began as a mission in the Arkansas Delta over 100 years ago. While grateful for our past, First Marion is a forward-thinking, innovative congregation. With technology as our friend, and no fear of change, we’ve grown into a church that is a community leader, sharing and showing the love of Jesus through passionate worship, relevant ministries, engaging missions, and authentic relationships.
At First Marion, we have a vibrant, high-energy worship service. The worship team sings modern songs that you’d hear on Christian radio. But most importantly, Jesus is lifted up and the Gospel is preached. After all, what is a worship service unless you worship the one worthy of our praise!
If you have children, they’ll enjoy First Kids. Led by Elsie Shawn, our children’s ministry works with kids from birth through 6th grade. Kid Connect (our Wednesday afterschool ministry), children’s choir, and the Wednesday Night Bible Study are some of the regular opportunities for kids, but they also enjoy various seasonal activities like VBS and Centrikid.
If you have teenagers in the home, they’ll be interested in FSM (First Student Ministry). Led by Chris Neaveill, FSM ministers to teenagers in 7th through 12th grade. They have weekly Bible studies, seasonal activities, and mission trips that keep students engaged in their walk with Christ.
We also offer Life Groups for all age on Sunday morning. These are small group Bible studies where people of common age or season of life gather to pray for one another and support each other. In other words, they do life together and we all need friends in today’s world. But most importantly, Life Groups study the scriptures. Participants grow in their knowledge of the Bible as they grow in their walk with Christ.
No matter what your Christian background is (or isn't), we hope you'll join us on Sunday. If you are trying to find your way in life, in need of a spiritual family, looking for a new church home, or just curious to know more about God, we have a seat waiting for you! You'll find people of all sizes, ages, colors, and backgrounds. We welcome everyone, because life is hard, but life without Jesus is harder.
When you join us for the first time, one of our greeters will be glad to help you. If you'd like, they'll help you find the nursery (which is fully staffed and safely run), restrooms, sanctuary and, of course, coffee in our Connection Room. So, we hope to see you this Sunday for Life Groups at 9:15 a.m. or our worship service at 10:30 a.m. (or both!).
